2009 CAR CLUB CRESSON HERITAGE DAYS CAR SHOW
To recap about this show, Thank-you to everyone who helped out: parking, registration, selling tickets, announcements, etc. The weather was colder than last year with threatening rain but it allowed us to pack in 161 vehicles this year for the show, which were 20 more than last year. We gave out trophies for 15 classes, 1 Best of Show, 1 Chairman’s Cup award. Overall it went pretty well for 2nd show, we made some improvements that seemed to help out greatly, and will continue to make changes to better the show. So a THANKS AGAIN goes out to everyone.
2009 Club “Mystery Tour”
Thanks to all those who attended this club function. Those that attended had a great time. Thanks again to all those who attend this year, and keep an eye out for plans about next years “Mystery Cruise”.
A summary of the club Mystery Tour to Penn's Cave can be found on the PHOTOS page on the website.
CLUB’S SPECIAL RECOGNITION AWARD
The PACCC has decided to present a NEW club award. During August’s meeting it was decided to give this award each year the club is available to. What the award pertains to is an outstanding long time member of the club who has been beneficial to the club in their years of service. The club does recognize that every club member give their very best in being beneficial to the club anyway they can. So we ask those member’s to keep up the hard work, who knows you might be the next recipient of the award. This year’s winner was Tony Kunko. He received a plaque during the Cresson Car Show along with his Photo on the front page of the Portage Dispatch. Congratulations Tony!!

HOW TO OBSERVE MEMORIAL DAY
“We should guard their graves with sacred vigilance.
All that the consecrated wealth and taste of the nation can add to their
adornment and security,
is but a fitting tribute to the memory of her slain defenders.
Let pleasant paths invite the coming and going
of reverent visitors and fond mourners.
Let no vandalism of avarice or neglect,
no ravages of time testify to the present
or the coming generations,
that we have forgotten as a people the cost
of a free and undivided Republic.
If other eyes grow dull, and other hands slack,
and other hearts cold in the solemn trust,
ours shall keep it well as long as the light and warmth
of life remains to us.”
---General John Logan, General Order No. 11, May 5, 1868
The “Memorial” in Memorial Day has been ignored by too many of us
who are beneficiaries
of those who have sacrificed their lives for our freedom and liberty.
Often we do not observe the day as it should be,
a day where we actively remember those Americans including our ancestors,
family members, loved ones neighbors and friends who have paid the price
for the blessings of liberty.
You can change this by doing the following: -
By visiting cemeteries and placing flags or flowers
on the graves of our fallen heroes.
- By flying the U.S. Flag at half-staff until noon.
Memorial Day is a day of "National Mourning."
Claim your free flags right now by visiting AmericanFlags.com
- By attending religious services of your choice.
- By visiting memorials.
- By participating in a “National Moment of Remembrance”
at 3:00 PM local time,
to pause and think upon the meaning of the day and for taps to be played
where possible.
- By renewing a pledge to aid the widows,
and orphans of our fallen dead,
and to aid the disabled veterans.

SENDING OUT A SHOUT TO ALL OUR MEMBERS
We would like some input from the members for the upcoming year!!!!
We are in the process of adding a calendar of club events to the newsletter
and the website for the 2009
car show season.
This idea is in its infancy right now, and will be published a few times
over the next few months,
so everyone has a chance to think about it. Start thinking about what
you want out of your car club.
If you have a show, or a cruise-in you like to go to and would like a few
members to go with you.
Send in the info so the info can be printed in the newsletter
and on the website.
If you have a favorite restaurant and would like to organize a
cruise to it, let us know.
If you want to set up a “Mystery Tour” to a favorite place,
let us know.
If there is a special occasion or event you would like to cruise to.
We are looking for ideas to get more club members involved
with some fun activities.
This may take a while to get off the ground, but with a little help
from a few members,
it can make being a club member very enjoyable.
Start to plan for next year early so arrangements can be made,
and published early in 2009.
More info will follow, and any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
You can phone, write, or email.
Let us know what you think of this idea.

2008 XMAS PARTY REVIEW
We started the night out with a brief club meeting and the
EXCELLENT catered meal followed.
I would like to start out by thanking those who were in
attendance for the Christmas party.
I believe we had about 31 attendees including members
along with their spouses.
I like to take the time and thank everyone who was
involved with the party:
party planning, hall rental, Bev Costlow for saying Grace,
John and Cathy Gartland for purchasing and wrapping the gifts
we gave away,
Duane Novotny for handling the DJ and Trivia portion,
along with Duane, John Gartland also came up with some
mind boggling trivia questions.
Also HUGE thanks to Carol Ronan who
supplied the main course meal
and we can’t forget all of the ladies who brought dessert.
I think I speak for everyone there that the desserts were great!!!
The Gifts were awesome and the Trivia was Tuff.
This party gave members a chance to interact with other members
and even meet different club members.
A lot of ideas were thrown around for the upcoming year on events,
club activities, etc.
So stay tuned to the newsletter and website this upcoming year.
We hope to see you at some of the club functions
that take place in 2009
Don’t forget that if you have access to a computer to check out
our club website often,
it is constantly changing with new things always being added.
The website along with e-mail is a way for us to keep in touch
in a timely manner
if something would happen to arise. So if you have an e-mail address
we would appreciate you send it to us
or fill it out on the membership application when you renew.
This will help us keep you informed of club activities and events.
THANKS, JOE FOX, JR.
